Ledger Hardware Wallet Setup Guide for Paxeer

Set up your Ledger hardware wallet for Paxeer (HPX) installation, sending and receiving, and security best practices.

Introduction

The Paxeer network supports various crypto assets, including:

  • Native tokens (HPX)
  • ERC20 tokens
  • ERC721 NFTs

Using a Ledger hardware wallet ensures secure key management for users interacting with the Paxeer network (chain ID 125).

Requirements

Before proceeding, ensure you have:

  • A Ledger wallet device
  • Ledger Live app installed on your desktop or mobile device
  • A compatible wallet application for Paxeer network (MetaMask recommended)
  • USB cable for connecting your device (Bluetooth is an option for some models)
  • Latest firmware installed on your Ledger device
  • Active internet connection

Installation Instructions

Install Ledger Live

  1. Download Ledger Live: Visit the Ledger official website and download Ledger Live for your operating system.

  2. Install Ledger Live: Follow the installation instructions for your platform.

  3. Set Up Ledger Live: Open Ledger Live and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Ledger device.

  4. Install the Ethereum App on Ledger:

    • In Ledger Live, go to "My Ledger".
    • Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
    • Search for "Ethereum" in the App Catalog and click Install.
Linux users will need to add a udev rule to allow access to the device. You can find the script to add a rule in the Ledger repo here.

Setup Instructions

Add Paxeer Network to MetaMask

  1. Open MetaMask and go to Settings > Networks > Add Network.

  2. Enter Paxeer network details:

    • Network Name: Paxeer
    • RPC URL: Use the official Paxeer RPC endpoint
    • Chain ID: 125
    • Currency Symbol: HPX
    • Block Explorer: Use the official Paxeer explorer URL

  3. Save the network configuration.

Connect Your Ledger Device

  1. Connect Your Ledger Device:

    • Connect your Ledger device to your computer.
    • Unlock your Ledger device and open the Ethereum app.

  2. Connect to MetaMask:

    • In MetaMask, click the account icon and select Connect Hardware Wallet.
    • Select Ledger and follow the prompts.
    • Choose the account you want to use and connect.

  3. Verify Connection:

    • Ensure the Paxeer network is selected in MetaMask.
    • Your Ledger-secured account should now be visible.

Viewing Account Balance

  1. Open MetaMask with your Ledger device connected.
  2. Ensure the Paxeer network is selected.
  3. Your HPX balance and asset details should be displayed on the main screen.

How to Receive Crypto Assets

  1. Navigate to the Receive Section:

    • In MetaMask, click on your account address to copy it, or use the Receive option.
    • Select the crypto asset (if applicable) you wish to receive.

  2. Verify the Receiver Address:

    • Verify that the address shown on the screen matches the one displayed on your Ledger device.
    • Confirm the address on your Ledger device by pressing the appropriate buttons.
Always verify the receiver address on your Ledger device before sharing it. This prevents attacks like address spoofing.
  1. Share the Address:
    • Copy the verified address and share it with the sender or paste it into an exchange withdrawal form.

How to Send Crypto Assets

  1. Navigate to the Send Section:

    • Click Send in MetaMask.
    • Select the crypto asset you wish to send.

  2. Enter Transaction Details:

    • Enter the recipient's address.
    • Input the amount you want to send.
    • (Optional) Add a memo if required.

  3. Submit the Transaction:

    • Click Next and then Confirm to initiate the send process.

  4. Verify and Confirm on Ledger Device:

    • Review the transaction details displayed on the Ledger device.
    • Verify that the recipient's address, amount, and other transaction details are correct.
    • Confirm and broadcast the transaction by pressing the appropriate buttons on your Ledger device.
Always double-check the transaction details on your Ledger device before confirming. This is your last line of defense against potential attacks or errors.
